Kirkwood Salesperson Barbara Goldberg Comes to the Rescue!
From the Gloucester Daily Times, October 14th

MANCHESTER — Two men were transported to Beverly Hospital after being plucked from the water by good Samaritans in the outer harbor over the weekend.

Colman Winn, of Fort Collins, Colo., was sailing with his son and grandson shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday when a strong gust of wind rocked their vessel violently, throwing the 76-year-old man overboard.

Winn's grandson, Connor Winn, 17, of School Street, jumped into the water and began calling for help.

Marblehead resident Barbara Goldberg, captain of the Grand Finale, witnessed Winn fall overboard and responded by positioning her vessel between the Winns' small, white sailboat and the rocky shore.

In the process of pulling the men to safety, Goldberg's vessel ran aground, police said, adding that Goldberg's quick actions that afternoon probably saved Winn's life.

The men were taken to the Manchester Yacht Club where they were both loaded into ambulances and transported to Beverly Hospital. The elder Winn was semiconscious at the time.

Manchester police and fire officials and the Beverly Harbormaster assisted Manchester Harbormaster Peter Mains during the incident.

The WINTER version of our quarterly marketing mailers is a 12-month calendar on issues of sustainability and the ecology. It was designed as part of the curriculum by Elizabeth Resnick’s two junior design classes at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. The assignment was to research, design and illustrate pages for the calendar based on keywords including Recycle, Responsibility, Reduce and Respect. Because sustainability and environmental responsibility are cornerstones of Kirkwood’s corporate mission, the message of the calendar is particularly appropriate. We are also pleased to be able to provide these talented students with an opportunity to add to their portfolios
